THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process will take place in two phases. First, written components (by students, parents, teachers, and counselors) will be submitted via our website. A committee will meet to review these documents and identify individuals to advance to the second round of the interview process. If the student is invited to the second round, they will participate in an interview and written task at our building to assess readiness and fit for the program.
Round one of the application process is now open for the Class of 2030 (current 8th graders). The deadline for all parts of this written application is January 14th @ 11:59pm.
Applicants will be notified if they have advanced to the second phase of the application process on January 23rd via the parent and student email provided in the student’s application. The second phase of the application process will take place at Palisade High School on January 27th and 28th. Students will sign-up for one of these days via an email invite.
After this phase, the committee will reconvene for final selection of accepted students. Applicants, from phase two, will be notified of final application status (accepted, denied, or waitlisted) on January 30th via email.
***Additionally, the School of Choice application window will open January 10th, on our application deadline date. All applicants who are outside of our attendance area must fill out the School of Choice application on the D51 Website.***
BELOW, YOU WILL FIND THE 4 SECTIONS OF PHASE ONE OF THE I.B. APPLICATION PROCESS:
PART ONE: Student Application
PART TWO: Parent & Student Commitment Form
PART THREE: Counselor Referral Form (1 required from your school counselor, or an administrator if you do not have a counselor in your building. Homeschool applicants exempt from this form)
PART FOUR: Teacher Referral Form (2 required, 2 maximum)
Important Notes:
All application parts should be completed and submitted separately using the "Submit" button at the bottom of each form.
Applicants should send their counselor and teachers to this website directly for referral completion. The counselor and teachers will use the links provided in parts three and four of the application to complete their recommendations individually.
You may not save an incomplete application and return to it. Therefore, we recommend completing the extended responses on the student application on a separate document and then copying them onto the application.
Please communicate with counselors and teachers to request recommendations from them in a timely manner.

PARENT & STUDENT COMMITMENT
BELOW IS PROGRAM INFORMATION FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS
PROGRAM INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
We ask that you read the following documents:
ACADEMIC HONESTY
Parents and students, please acknowledge you have read and can commit to our policy on academic honesty.
Please understand that IB students in violation of the academic honesty policy will be placed on probation, and repeat offenses constitute dismissal from the program.
Two Diplomas: D51 and IB
Parents and students, IB students will be working toward two diplomas. Please acknowledge the following:
We are a full-diploma programme only, and students commit to a rigorous course of study that must include the core and six subject groups.
Pre-IB students will complete many of the D51 graduation requirements in their freshman and sophomore years; students are official diploma programme students in their junior and senior years.
A pre-IB schedule is somewhat prescriptive; in order to earn a D51 diploma and be ready for the IB diploma programme, our students must take certain pre-requisites.
Students must commit to taking course-end IB exams which will determine whether they receive their internationally-recognized IB diplomas. Testing is not optional, and there are fees attached (due the senior year). Those fees are comparable in price to AP fees and can be reduced if the student demonstrates financial need.
TRANSPORTATION
Parents and students, we recognize that transportation may be a concern. Many of our students carpool, take one of two IB-buses (with two drop-off/pick-up locations in GJ), take D51 buses, or ride the GVT.
